A Little About Us.....
North Point Prep is a privately owned family inspired learning center that
has been providing quality care for children since 1997. We understand that before learning can occur a child's basic
needs must be met. It is not until a child feels safe, nurtured, and comfortable that they can become engaged in
the classroom, and thrive socially. We also understand that the social and emotional awareness of a child is just
as crucial to development as cognitive ability. This is why we provide a classroom where all abilities can
be developed individually, and in conjunction with the whole group.
Our program provides a developmentally appropriate curriculum called the Creative
Curriculum. The basis of this practice is to allow children to learn through active exploration and play. To an
outsider it may look like the children are "playing" all day, but during this time they are learning at an astonishing pace. In
this environment children are learning mostly in small groups during what we call Center Time. Learning Centers that
you will find in the classrooms are: Housekeeping, Dramatic Play, Reading, Science, Manipulatives/Pre-Math, Sensory Table,
Blocks, Games/Puzzles,Music & Movement, Listening and a Cozy Area. This large part of their day coupled
with Circle Time, Outside Time, teacher directed Small Group Time, Meals & Snacks, Nap/Rest Time and many child initiated
learning opportunities allows us to educate the "Whole Child" (socially, emotionally, cognitively, physically). Taking concepts
and skills from learning centers, and making it meaningful to the children by providing a play-like atmosphere where
they interact with teachers as well as peers, is the key to unlocking the door to their education and early learning.
We believe having a partnership with parents allows
us to provide every child with their highest potential for learning. Open communication between North Point Prep and
our parents is essential to our success and the success of every child. We value support in encouraging our children to develop
independence, self-awareness, appreciation for diversity and compassion for others. We welcome the opportunity to show
you the wonderful things we do for children, and answer any questions you may have.
We look forward to being partners in your child’s
early education and care.
Our Journey through NAEYC Accreditation....
North Point Prep is committed to high quality early childhood
education. Providing the best care for our families and striving to be on the forefront of early education and care,
prompted us to seek national accreditation from the National Association for the Education of Young Children. After a
lot of hard work , dedication, and a formal review process, North Point Prep was awarded NAEYC accreditation January
31, 2004.
NAEYC defines a high quality program as one that
"meets the needs and promotes the physical, social, emotional, and cognitive development of the children and adults-parents,
staff, and administrators-who are involved in the program. Each day in a child's life is viewed as leading toward the
growth and development of a healthy, intelligent, and contributing member of society." NAEYC What is Accreditation?
