               (Toddlers & Waddlers)

Our toddler classrooms foster the development of early independence and self-help skills while maintaining a develomentally appropriate environment. We open the doors of early science, art, sensory activities, foreign language and  math concepts.

Each class is staffed with two teachers who encourage social development and age appropriate interactions with peers and teachers. The small group sizes of our Toddler classrooms reflect lower teacher-child  ratios in order to provide our toddlers a wealth of  opportunities for individualized attention and instruction.

Our toddlers enjoy weekly themed lesson plans, daily circle time, early learning centers and a specially designed outdoor play area. Our teachers are trained to make provisions to the daily schedule in order to meet individual children’s needs within the group setting if necessary. They also recognize a toddler's need to repeat tasks until they master the steps and skills involved, oftentimes having a theme last for two weeks or more, to ensure that each child can learn at his/her own pace.

You will see appropriate interactions to promote literacy between children and teachers through frequent reading, singing, finger plays, and acting out simple stories.  Children also have daily opportunities for sensory activities through water and sand play, painting clay and/or play dough manipulation.  These are just some of the ways that we "teach" our young children using the Creative Curriculum and Developmentally Approproate Practice. 

We feel that communication and trust between North Point Prep and our families has been key to our success. Teachers work in partnerships with parents on a daily basis to ensure that their child’s needs, both physical and social-emotional, are met. We listen closely to our parents in order to understand the parent’s goals and preferences for their child.  The teachers are respectful of all cultural and family diversity, which is reflected in the classrooms as well.
